HOW IT WORKS
How it Works > How much is my Gold Jewellery worth through recycling?
How much is my old Gold Jewellery worth through recycling?
The value of your old gold jewellery is based on three things:
|
The quality or purity of the gold. The purer the gold, the higher the value. |
Gold jewellery is marked in carats. Jewellery is usually marked with a hallmark to indicate the quality of the gold. Pure gold is marked as 24 carat. The proportion of gold in your jewellery is the ratio of your carat to 24. For example, jewellery marked 18 carat is 75% gold and jewellery marked 9 carat is 37.5% gold. The weight of the gold |
Gold is measured in troy ounces, which are different from the ounces we are used to. A troy ounce of gold is equal to about 1.1 regular ounces. Since gold prices are always reported in troy ounces, a conversion is required if you are weighing your jewellery on an ordinary kitchen scale. Click here for advice on how to weigh your gold >>
